iWarts , The Adventures of Uncle Typewriter

Heavy rock that spits its social observations right in your eye and probably doesn’t give a toss what you think. Quirky and tweaked-out in a Mike Patton way, but not aping him at all. Made up of dudes from bands that are on Sling Slang Records, these cats rip open with “Just As We Are” and keep it up for the whole five tunes (plus some theatrical bits). Well-written and beautifully psychotic.

Punk rock with smooth layers of melodic rock ‘n’ roll coat “The Adventures of Uncle Typewriter”. Clearly an ambitious album chock full of delightful tones as well as caustic yelps and guitar squalor, it manages to be everything all at once. Forget that tired mall punk sound that everyone and their mother’s brother is doing these days. This is more Black Flag than Warped Tour. I definitely dig the cavalcade of harmonies that are buried into each track. Warts are usually annoyances and a total turn-off, but the band is quite the opposite.
